Tatiana's Day

Yesterday they celebrated Tatiana's Day in Russia. It is like a second birthday for everybody whose name is Tatiana, but also a holiday for all students.

Here is some more info from history:
January, 25 is memorial of Tatiana the great martyr which is a patroness of all Tatianas. On January, 25 , back in 1755, Russian empress Elizabeth the Great founded the Moscow University. Since that this day has become the most favorite and the merriest holiday of students. It was the noisiest day of the year in big cities. Students gathered into large groups and walked all together along the streets singing students' songs and drinking bear. They were drunk with the feeling of incredible freedom, because even police had not been recommended to arrest students on that day. In some regards it was something like: Woodstock for rock-and-roll fans back in 60's. Not only students but also professors considered Tatiana's day to be their professional holiday and they themselves somehow became old students and acted accordingly. In the Soviet period of Russian history Tatiana's day was forbidden, but in 1993 it was revived and presently it is the great event for all students and professors again.

Anyway, I got me something today. I was browsing in A.C.Moore craft store and something very familiar caught my eye. It was a little plastic box of watercolors - very similar if not the same like I had in Art School in Obninsk. That brings memories... Ahh!..

Couple days ago we got to see our friend Olga and her little man Maksim. He is 5,5 months already! Check out the pictures:
